Dallas Career Institute

Dallas Career Institute provides a CNA program aimed at preparing students for entry-level positions in long-term care facilities and hospitals. The curriculum covers basic nursing care, effective communication, and skills to support residents’ functional independence. Students are trained to protect residents’ rights, apply safety measures, and contribute as integral members of healthcare teams.

The program costs $700, inclusive of tuition, books, and uniforms. A $200 deposit is required at registration, with the remaining balance payable before graduation. Classes, spanning 4 weeks, commence on the first Monday of each month, offering morning sessions (9 AM – 2 PM) and evening sessions (5 PM – 10 PM) on Mon, Wed, and Fri.

Additional costs include a State Testing Fee of $125 (or $135 for the Spanish test), directly payable to the state, and a $50 CASH ONLY fee for CPR training. Students need a current CPR certification during clinical training, along with a TB Test clearance before starting rotations. The institute is a vendor for the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), Department of Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS), and accepts the GI Bill for Veterans.

Upon completion, graduates can effectively communicate with patients, perform basic first aid, CPR, vital sign assessments, and apply nutritional principles. The curriculum also emphasizes proper body mechanics in patient care. Graduates receive a Certificate of Completion and are prepared for the Texas Nurse Aide Competency and Evaluation Program (NATCEP) exam, paving the way for a career as a CNA.

Admission requirements include proof of completion of 8th grade, proof of being at least 16 years old, absence from the Employee Misconduct Registry, and no criminal convictions as specified in the Texas Health and Safety Code §250.00.

Instructor Joe Onyema oversees the program with 10 courses and 110 students, earning a 0 review rating. The institute offers various related courses, including CNA Continuing Education, Medical Assistant, Medication Aide, Patient Care Technician, and Pharmacy Technician.

Dallas Career Institute, a recognized career school, distinguishes itself by providing flexible, life-changing programs, allowing students to learn at their own pace.
